Background
Danish Demining Group (DDG) is part of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). DDG is an operational unit specialised in the prevention and reduction of armed violence (AVR). DDG has AVR programmes in many other countries in the region including Somaliland, Somalia, Yemen, South Sudan and Uganda. The Danish Demining Group is looking for three (3) Team Leader Positions who will coordinate implementation of Police- Community Dialogue and community Safety activities in Dangoroyo, Harfo and Godob jiiran respectively
Purpose
The position of Team Leader is based in respective district either in Harfo, Godobjiiran or Dangoroyo with limited travel to Garowe. This position will coordinate the implementation of Police-Community Dialogue and Community Safety project activities in Puntland in respective districts. Team Leaders will be responsible for supervising Community Liaison Assistants in respective district. The Team Leaders will consult closely at all times with the Field Project Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Representation at District Level;Help to organize and facilitate Police -Community Dialogue and Community Safety workshops.
· Facilitate community based policing mechanisms in target communities.
· Provide capacity building and training to community members and local committees to enable them to manage their Police Community Dialogue and Community safety activities.
· Liaise with local leaders and local and national government authorities about safety in the assigned target communities in order to facilitate a consultative community safety process.
· Compile the required monitoring forms and reports using the prescribed DDG/DRC formats and submit reports to the Field Project Officer within assigned deadlines
· Support, monitor and evaluate, the implementation of projects and plans conducted by DDG in the respective district.
· Assist with reporting about activities, as required by the Field Project Officer
· Maintain regular contact with community leaders to ensure open communication with the community
· Provide assistance as required by the Field Project Officer and ensure that ensure that all tasks allocated are executed promptly, efficiently and in accordance with DDG/DRC operational guidelines.
· Other reasonable tasks as requested by the Field Project Officer.
· Support Community Liaison Assistants in community mobilization, project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Reporting Arrangements:-This position currently reports to the Field Project Officer on the following aspects:
  • Accomplishment against agreed action points as result from review meetings
  • Achievement of targets in daily, weekly and monthly work plan
  • Timely and quality periodic reporting:
a) Debriefing of daily livelihoods achievements, challenges and recommendation
b) Submit weekly and monthly reports at the end of each month in coordination and approval of the Field project officer.
c) Quarterly report
  • Conduct regular discussions with the Field project Officer on on-going Program activities;
  • Monthly and yearly work plans;
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, six monthly reports, including reports on implementation progress, constraints and opportunities as per DRC and donor requirements Area Manager Puntland.
GENERAL

Requirements:
Essential:
· University degree in a relevant field of education.
· Minimum of five years working experience in community development, and/or community mobilization.
· Experience working with Non-Governmental organizations, UN agencies and local communities.
· Good command in English - spoken and written.
· Good communication skills and ability to conduct training.
· Understanding of gender, protection and human rights.
· Computer skills, good organizational and people centered management skills.
· Ability to represent the organization in key meetings.
· Good communicator in working with local communities, local NGOs and local authorities
Preferable:
· Experience in implementing Community Safety Plans.
· Strong Skills, or interest, in facilitation of workshops and trainings.
· Extensive experience of working with communities in Puntland and awareness raising.
· At least 2 years’ experience of project implementation including monitoring and evaluation.
· Minimum of five years working experience in community development, and/or community mobilization.
· Experience working with Non-Governmental organizations, UN agencies and local communities.
· Good communication skills and ability to conduct training
· Understanding of gender, protection and human rights
Conditions *Availability:*1st Augusts 2015
Duty station: Dangoroyo, Harfo,Goddob Jiiran
Contract: 10 months dependent on both funding and performance with a 2 months’ probation period. Salary and conditions in accordance with the Danish Demining Group-Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff
