CCM - Comitato di Collaborazione Medica is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1968 in Turin, Italy by a group of doctors and specialized in the health sector. Its core mission is contributing to the development processes which safeguard and promote the right to health, by acting with an integrated approach on the health needs and by influencing the social-economical determinants. CCM aims at the improvement of health conditions of the population in low-income countries and intervenes through projects of international cooperation, education to the world citizenship, advocacy activities and interventions of health promotion in the context of migration processes.
CCM cooperates with the local communities and authorities in order to strengthen and develop the health systems, to improve the accessibility and the quality of prevention and health care services. CCM works also to promote health in the communities cooperating with local organizations and promotes an integrated approach to the health by working directly or by cooperating with other local and international organizations in the fields of water, education, veterinary, food safety which help the complete well-being of the individual. Where present, CCM gives an immediate answer to the essential needs also in emergency situations.
In Garowe/Puntland CCM (in partnership and funded by UNOPS) is supporting Garowe General Hospital since 2010, by contributing to the payment of its recurrent costs, procuring drugs and supplies and providing continuous technical support to the hospital management. In 2014 (in Partnership and funded by UNFPA and PLMOH) CCM is implementing the project: Expanding and enhancing the quality and integration of CEmONC services in Garowe (Nugaal Region – Puntland). The proposed action intends contributing to the expansion, integration and enhancement of CEmONC services in Garowe, serving Nugaal Region population.

Contract duration: 3 month (probation period), renewable up to 1 year subject to funding

Objectives and general characteristics
To assess, plan, implement and oversee nursing care at hospital level and contribute to the efficient management of the different wards/units with a special focus Maternity, ER, OT/Surgical department
Reports to:Medical Coordinator in Garowe (MC)
Areas of responsibility
· Ensure patients are cared for in a clean and safe environment taking remedial action if standards are not maintained;
· Ensure the services to patients respect the minimum quality standards and accordingly support the organization of the department in close collaboration with the Hospital Matron and MC;
· In close collaboration with the Hospital Matron and MC, build the capacity of hospital staff by on the job mentoring/coaching and organization of formal trainings in line with MOH guidelines;
· In close collaboration with the Hospital Matron and MC, ensure that hospital staff understand and adhere to the hospital clinical protocols and guidelines they are working with;
· Supervise the effective health service in all hospital departments (ANC, Maternity, OPD, IPD, VCT/PMCT, Laboratory, Theatre);
  • Continuous supportive supervision of the Nursing/MW staff of the Maternity department and daily on the job coaching of the staff;
· Be champion for driving the infection prevention and control agenda and ensure best-practices are applied;
· Supervise the drug stores and support the Hospital Pharmacist ensure proper drug administration, distribution and timely report possible stock raptures;
· In close coordination with the Hospital Pharmacist and Medical Coordinator, periodically update the hospital list of assets and timely report on procurement priorities according to project budget availabilities;
· In close collaboration with the Hospital Matron and MC, check the hospital registers and compile monthly and quarterly reports on hospital performances to be submitted to the MoH, CCM and donors;
· Discuss with the MC issues of concern as they arise, to ensure the identification and application of feasible corrective measures;
· Write monthly reports on project activities as per CCM template.
· Perform any other duty in line with the profile as per indications of the supervisor
Requirements:
· Relevant BSC and/or academic qualification in nursery/midwifery:
· Female candidate:
· At least 5 years of relevant work experience of which at least 2 as a Matron in a Hospital:
· At least 2 years of relevant work experience in remote and disadvantaged settings;
· Fluent in both oral and written English;
· Basic IT skills,
· Flexibility and willingness to work in remote areas;
· Comfortable working in a multicultural team;
· Teamwork inclination.
Additional preferable qualifications:
· Short trainings on EmONC, FP and other Reproductive Health topics;
· Previous work experience with an INGO;
· Previous experience as a trainer;
· Knowledge of Somali language.
