OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Planned for completion in the first half of 2015, our client’s Village will provide safe, comfortable, MOSS compliant accommodation and work space for International staff deployed to Mogadishu. Presently at construction phase, build of the facilities and installation of plant and equipment for Phase 1 is scheduled to be complete around April 2015.
The Village development is scheduled to be constructed in 3 phases.
The Head Housekeeper will be based in Mogadishu, accommodated in a secure camp which although basic is nevertheless safe, clean and well serviced including internet, television and three meals per day. The Head Housekeeper will be provided with a mobile phone.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
In this camp, our client provides lodging facilities, dining room services, recreational and leisure amenities to over 100 residents in state of the art containerized rooms and permanent structure Kitchen and Dining Room.
The Head Housekeeper will lead the team of Room and Laundry Stewards. The successful Candidate will be responsible for preparing the day-to-day Cleaning rosters and services in the Accommodation and Laundry facilities. The Head Housekeeper will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the Cleaning and Laundry service and for making sure that their outlets perform well. The most important part of the job is achieving good quality at low cost and maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.
It is the responsibility of the head housekeeper to ensure that every detail is attended to and whether cleaning or repairs are required. Responsibility for replacing damaged items is also part of the head housekeeper jobs remit.
A key aspect to the role will be to supervise staff and ensure high standard of Hygiene. Ensuring Rooms are maintained at a high level and that Laundry services are provided in a timely and professional standard.
Head housekeeper jobs work unsocial hours as accommodation needs to be available 24 hours a day. They must be prepared to start work early and work at night if required.
Duties:
· Dealing with suppliers of linen, cleaning materials and guest supplies, such as soap, shampoo, etc.
· Controlling supply costs, as well as laundry, maintenance and wages
· Scheduling staff Rota’s
· Overseeing stock takes, budgets and other paperwork, such as maintenance reports and safety audits
· Ensuring lost property is kept safely and returned to its owner
· overseeing supervisors and linen room and cleaning supplies staff
· Conduct cleaning duties in the absence of staff due to security situation or in case of high influx of guests
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education
· High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
· At least five (5) years of Hotel Cleaning supervisory experience
· Working knowledge of Room Cleaning and Laundry systems and procedures.
· Demonstrate an ability to execute and deliver, managed Cleaning service teams in complex environments.
· Great people management skills and labor relations experience.
· Excellent customers and clients relationship skills.
Languages:
· Good knowledge of written and spoken English. An understanding of Somali and Kiswahili will be helpful.
