Save the Children has been working in Somalia/Somaliland for over 40 years. Save the Children Somaliland office is implementing a one year project in Humanitarian assistance to drought-affected and conflict-affected communities in Somalia/land (SOM_ ECHO 2016 HIP). The purpose of this project is to reduce morbidity and mortality among the most vulnerable families in drought and conflict-affected communities of Somalia/Somaliland through community-based and integrated nutrition, Health FSL and WASH interventions. The action aims to achieve four key result areas: 1) Improved capacity of vulnerable households to meet their essential food and non-food needs; 2) Improved health status of vulnerable individuals through integrated health interventions and disease surveillance; 3) Improved nutrition status of children 6-59 months old and PLWs through integrated CMAM; and 4) Increased access to safe water and sanitation, and improved hygiene practices for vulnerable households. Through this action, SC intends to reach a total of 50,130 direct beneficiaries, of which 68% are children under 5. The project financed by European Commission - Directorate General - Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection – ECHO.
This study is planned to document the knowledge attitude and practice of key Infant and Young Child Feeding and WASH indicators on the target IDPs.
