The NRC Somalia Country Programme is part of the NRC Horn of Africa, Yemen, Uganda and South Sudan regional mission.Prioritized activities focus on shelter and infrastructure construction; water, hygiene and sanitation; emergency education including youth education; food security; protection and information, counselling and legal Assistance (ICLA).
The Grants Coordinator will provide essential oversight and coordination of all reporting, proposal development, and communication tasks for the country programme
Generic Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain overview of all grants, donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines, including filing of grant documents (including through the grants database - forthcoming)
  2. Coordinate the development of donor applications and reports, as well as ensuring donor compliance and quality control
  3. Contribute to the development and revision of funding proposals, budgets and donor reports
  4. Be updated on donor priorities and track and share relevant calls for proposals
  5. Document, analyze, and share learning from proposal and reporting process, and compliance with donor rules and regulations
Specific responsibilities
Documentation and Reporting
  1. Prepare reports for donors, partners, government on program progress, ensuring all reporting requirements of donors are delivered on time and in a quality manner.
  2. Support the Head of Programme by responding to information requests, drafting success stories, and monitoring and reporting on the impact of the various core competency programs.
  3. Ensure quality of program writing, including program activity plans, reports and informal updates.
Program Quality
  1. Maintain program files and ensure copies of donor concept notes, proposals, contracts and reports are correctly filed.
  2. Ensure that all programme staff and partners and are aware of requirements and conditions of grant agreements and contracts, through the use of grant opening/mid/closing meetings and other methods.
  3. Ensure that grant coordination systems and processes are successfully implemented across the life of the grant.
  4. Ensure that key controls are in place to support effective management of the funding portfolio and compliance with the donor requirements.
Program Development
  1. Contribute to program design to ensure standards are met
  2. Support the Head of Programme with the development of strategy and/or position papers.
  3. Work with programme teams and partners to draft concepts and proposal
  4. Ensure that the parts of the budget related to program outputs correspond with the proposal narrative before submission for review.
Communications and Representation
  1. Develop and implement communications strategy in conjunction with the Head of Programme
  2. Ensure compliance with all donor/organizational communications initiatives.
  3. Facilitate information sharing among internal and appropriate external audiences.
  4. Carry out tasks on a need basis in agreement with the Head of Programme
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. University degree in relevant discipline
  2. At least five years relevant experience within field of expertise
  3. Relevant experience from project management in the humanitarian sector
  4. Experience from working with humanitarian and development donors
  5. Good understanding of donor rules and regulations
  6. Skills and experience in report and proposal writing
  7. Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills
  8. Strong analytical skills (data and financial)
  9. Ability to mediate in high-stress scenarios with competing interest
  10. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  11. Above average computer skills
