TECHINCAL SUPERVISOR SOLAR

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Somalia is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in Kenya and operating in Somalia. ADRA Somalia is seeking for Technical Supervisor- Solar to supervise project sites in Somalia
  1. Objective of the Technical Supervision
The main objective of the technical supervision is to ensure high quality solar installation work is done for schools, health facilities and irrigation farms. The supervisor will also advise and report on the progress of pico solar dealers.
  1. Specific Tasks
The technical supervisor shall be responsible for:
1. Solar installation
  • Studying the proposed solar systems and ensure that they are installed as required. Report all discrepancies to the Project Manager in a timely manner
  • Verification and examining the contractor’s works program and making any necessary inputs for improvement to ensure timely delivery of the project
  • Keeping daily site records as directed by and in the format prescribed by the Project Manager
  • Submitting weekly and monthly reports to the Project Manager in the format prescribed.
  • Identifying events and issues which may delay installation and reporting the same to the Project Manager in a timely manner
  • Answering queries raised by the contractor on the system and where necessary referring the same to the Project Managers for resolution
  • Ensuring the quality of equipment delivered on site are up to the required standards, and ensuring materials not up to standard are removed from site promptly.
  • Ensuring the workmanship on site is up to the required standards and directing the contractor to make good any faulty works.
  • Carrying out defects inspection at practical completion and final completion
  • Ensuring the contractor adhere to the contract.
2. PICO solar dealer
  • Evaluate the capacity of the pico dealers to implement the project
  • Carry out monitoring and report the progress of the pico solar dealers
3. Required qualifications/skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Solar Technology or other comparable qualifications.
  • Demonstrated excellent command of spoken and written English, Fluency in Somali language mandatory.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in the electrical installation or supervising construction project in the development sector.
  • Ability to work in challenging environment; and Specific work experience in Somalia is essential.
