With funding from the United Nations Children Agency (UNICEF), SRDA is responding to the current drought in Somalia by implementing a 2 year’s Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) in Luuq district of Gedo region. The project is providing basic health and nutrition support to children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women from Luuq district through fixed and mobile OTP units who will be administrating severe and moderate malnutrition
Position Summary
The Storekeeper will ensure smooth operations of SRDA warehouses and manage the receipt, dispatch and inventory keeping of all goods that entered into the storage facilities. In line with SRDA Asset Management Policy procedures the Store Officer ensures that all inventories will be accounted for in accordance with policy and in compliance with the UNICEF requirement. Under the leadership of the Logistic Manager, the incumbent will Support the project team in the delivery of goods to the intended beneficiaries in order to provide reliable and compliant support to program activities in order to achieve efficient service to program beneficiaries.

Main Responsibilities
  • Receipt and storage of supplies and commodities
  • Request and inventory management

  • Weekly reporting on the movement of goods
o Ensure that the equipment and supplies required for smooth and safe operation of the store (weighing scales, sampling spears, moisture meters, stitching machines, fire extinguishers, spare bags, threads, stationery, etc.) are in place.
o Ensure the timely delivery of supplies to respective Projects with the coordination of procurement, transport, security departments and rental transportation services.
o Has a full understanding of SRDA warehouse policies and formats. Assists, as needed in training staff on these policies and forms;
o Maintain the inventory and prepare the reports on a daily bases;
o Travel to field sites to receive and inspect goods delivered directly to the field;
o All other activities to ensure the smooth warehouse operation;
o Interacts with suppliers in the receiving and inspection of goods – issues GRNs.
o Receive the goods as per the description on the purchase order/request. Inspects gods upon delivery and rejects inadequate, broken, lower quality and other items not meeting the requirements of the order;
o Dispatch goods from the warehouse using appropriate SRDA procedures, Store Release forms, Waybills and update Stock Records.
o Prepare report of monthly stocks, end of grant stocks, fiscal year physical counts and other physical counts, as instructed by supervisor.
o The incumbent will ensure that the store is opened, locked and sealed by the delegated security guards.
o Ensure that porters are available in optimum number for loading, off-loading, reconstitution, re-bagging and re-stacking operations.
o Prepare and verify warehouse and transport documents, and maintain confidential files and accurate warehouse transaction records, to ensure immediate reporting on commodity movements in line with the corporate requirements.
o Carry out daily inspections and prepare reports on the quantity and quality of the commodities received/dispatched and handled, and refer to the supervisor for appropriate action.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
o Desirable secondary education and warehouse management related studies.
o At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position. Previous MSF experience is an advantage.
o Strong interpersonal skills, strong initiative, able to handle complex assignments with proactive attitude
o Organized, autonomous and attentive to details
o Punctual, reliable and flexible to work long hours when required
o Computer literacy with practical use of MS-Office applications an advantage
o Somali language in an added advantage
o Demonstrated knowledge of UNICEF programming and experience managing nutrition and health programs compliant with donor such as USAID, DFID, ECHO, EC regulations will be an asset;
o Proven program leadership, management, project planning, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and security management skills;

She/he will be responsible for the reception of the beneficiaries both at fixed and mobile site to record the nutritional details.

o Inform the nurse about the weight change of the patient specially children who lost the weight
o Refer to SC children fitting the admission criteria for SC in liaison with nurse
o Recording properly the data of the beneficiaries (U5 children and Pregnant and lactating mothers
o Proper use and recording of OPT cards and resisters
o Collet accurate and reliable data from beneficiaries
o Storage and sharing of data w with the relevant project staff
o Inform the caretakers and nurses about the changes in increase/decrease of weight of malnourished children
o Keep proper record of daily attendance in the register book clearing showing the deaths, cured, defaulters and the transfers
o Update register books on weekly, monthly and annual basis. Work with the M&E team in recording the data digitally
o Produce monthly and annual statistical report on data collected.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
  • Minimum of Secondary level education or equivalent
  • three years’ experience in nutrition program , primary health care unit or community health experience

o In collaboration with nurses and social workers, assess on a regular basis IYCF practices among the IDPs and host communities in Luq District
o Identifying good practices and the practices that need improvement among the community and adapt the program tools accordingly.

  • Participate and set up any other nutrition activities that could be identify according to the beneficiaries needs or linked to the nutritional situation.
  • Actively coordinate with SRDA WASH and Assessment department for the introduction of IYCF and handwashing activities within their activities.
  • Counseling of mothers on the appropriate time introduces complementary feeding promotion the continuation of Breast feeding.
  • Educating the mothers on the quality, quantity and frequency of complementary feeds to promote adequate weight gain.
  • Utilize the provided education material on breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices, relaying accurate, practical and specific advice for the mother’s needs.
  • Ensure a comfortable, calm environment for counselling sessions and maintain good relationships with the beneficiaries.
  • Establishment of proper IYCF corner ensuring the privacy of women (as it is cultural sensitive matter).
  • IYCF corner should have IYCF supplies all the time, IYCF nurse should communicate well before time about the supplies requirement to her supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
o Diploma in Nursing with 1 year experience in CMAM and IYCF.
o Good level of spoken and written Sindhi and local languages.
o Excellent behavior change communication and counselling skills.
o Excellent skills in organizing work flow, capacity to follow protocols and take own initiative.
o Excellent ability to work as part of a team.
o Ability to work in an environment where there are physical discomforts associated with change in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust or dirt
o Previous experience of Infant and Young Child Feeding practices /treatment of malnourished children in Community Management of Acute Malnutrition is advantageous
o Filing and ability to work and stay with beneficiaries in order to change their behavior through health and nutrition education sessions.

Main Responsibilities
o Conducts static vaccination sessions in BHUs as scheduled including holding outreach activities in the field
o Administers vaccines correctly in accordance with guidelines, and maintains strict aseptic techniques
o Reports and record measles cases and conduct ring immunization, mopping up and or any other supplemental immunization activities/campaigns
o Liaise closely with Healthy promoters and other staff in order to avoid missed opportunities (including screening of cards) for immunization of children and women, children to be followed up on due list and defaulter tracing.
o Also coordinates for proper birth recording/reporting and growth monitoring activities in the facilities with the teams.
o Maintains accurate record/chart of monitoring coverage of the target population
o Maintains accurate EPI records including daily and permanent registers, and additional records on due and defaulters (prepare and update lists on monthly basis)
o Provides counselling to the care givers on the preventive and primitive health aspects of the vaccines, vaccination schedules, when to return for the other shot of vaccine etc.
o Receives vaccines from the field office and ensures that the cold chain is correctly maintained to the point of actual immunization in accordance to standardized guidelines
o Prepares monthly statistical report, vaccine consumption/wastage rates and submits in timely manner.
o Ensures that used syringes, needles and all vaccinations vials/ampoules are stored and disposed of per protocols.
o Participates in meeting with community representatives, volunteers and to discuss EPI activities such as defaulters, EPI campaigns etc.

o Co-ordinate with health promoters on regular basis for defaulter tracing and participate in health education session

Main Responsibilities
o Conduct regular meetings with health stakeholders (MoH, WHO, UNICEF) to discuss health related issues, services points (location and timing of health care facilities, availability of vaccinators and others) and details of the services provided by them.
o Seek the community feedback and document, as well as bring community perception and perspective the relevant forum for the discussion.
o identify the community focal persons in the relevant areas, by following set criteria, and engage them in the activities on volunteer basis as needed
o Ensure the coordination between other stakeholders and vaccinator for proper vaccination and coordinate with the WHO and UNICEF C4D programs and teams.
o Conduct mass awareness about the benefits of the vaccination & conduct the awareness sessions with community members
o Engage vaccination activities and monitoring of immunization services.
o Develop and prepare monthly work plan and coordinate efforts with other stakeholders
o Check and update register during monitoring visits and match the database.
o Validate the registration and vaccination of children and pregnant women on weekly and monthly basis.
o Ensure the collection of daily, weekly and monthly reports are accurate and up to date and report to the Senior Nutritionist
o Monitor and assess job knowledge of field assistant during his/her field visit.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
o Diploma in Nursing or equivalent field
o Ability to organize, plan and monitor activities with teams
o Proper logistical planning and management
o Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including report development, writing and editing;
o Somali language in an added advantage

GIS Assistant

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the IM Officer and working with our clients program & projects and various UN and International counter parts, specifically the AMISOM forces, UN mission, national mine and ERW institutions, the GIS Assistant will be responsible to the IM Office for all aspects of Mine Action GIS requirements and information management. She/he will provide support to the IM Officer in all aspects of Mine Action data collection and dissemination and portray through GIS products. She/he will produce high quality maps on demand using satellite imagery, topographical data and mine action information in support of their operations:
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Role objective:
§ Responsible for verification and recording of all field data from implementers into IM database management tools.
§ Produce statistics and reports from the Mine Action data.
§ Assist in preparation and printing of informative maps with mine action and other available data.
§ Work and produce standard mapping templates
§ Collection, organization, analysis and distribution of baseline geographic data.
§ Create and update Geodatabases and use updated themes on produced maps.
§ Update and organize GIS projects and take regular backups of GIS data.
§ Geo referencing of interest locations and efficient use on mapping projects.
§ Maintain and contribute to the operations mapping archive.
§ Follow-up on all GIS procurement requests and keep updated log on delivery status.
§ Keep updated log on delivered map products to the client and other stakeholders.
§ Assist IM officer to provide regular trainings to operations and implementers in the use of GIS tools.

Education:

Languages:
