With funding from the United Nations Children Agency (UNICEF), SRDA is responding to the current drought in Somalia by implementing a 2 year’s Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) in Luuq district of Gedo region. The project is providing basic health and nutrition support to children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women from Luuq district through fixed and mobile OTP units who will be administrating severe and moderate malnutrition
Position Summary
Under the leadership of the Senior Nutritionist and the close supervision of the Nurse, the Extended Programme on Immunization (EPI), the EPI Supervisor will be responsible for liaising, organizing, planning and conducting mass immunization of children in the project targeted location. She/he will lead, work and monitor the day to day work of the EPI vaccinators.

Main Responsibilities
o Conduct regular meetings with health stakeholders (MoH, WHO, UNICEF) to discuss health related issues, services points (location and timing of health care facilities, availability of vaccinators and others) and details of the services provided by them.
o Seek the community feedback and document, as well as bring community perception and perspective the relevant forum for the discussion.
o identify the community focal persons in the relevant areas, by following set criteria, and engage them in the activities on volunteer basis as needed
o Ensure the coordination between other stakeholders and vaccinator for proper vaccination and coordinate with the WHO and UNICEF C4D programs and teams.
o Conduct mass awareness about the benefits of the vaccination & conduct the awareness sessions with community members
o Engage vaccination activities and monitoring of immunization services.
o Develop and prepare monthly work plan and coordinate efforts with other stakeholders
o Check and update register during monitoring visits and match the database.
o Validate the registration and vaccination of children and pregnant women on weekly and monthly basis.
o Ensure the collection of daily, weekly and monthly reports are accurate and up to date and report to the Senior Nutritionist
o Monitor and assess job knowledge of field assistant during his/her field visit.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
o Diploma in Nursing or equivalent field
o Ability to organize, plan and monitor activities with teams
o Proper logistical planning and management
o Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including report development, writing and editing;
o Somali language in an added advantage
o Demonstrated knowledge of UNICEF programming and experience managing nutrition and health programs compliant with donor such as USAID, DFID, ECHO, EC regulations will be an asset;
o Proven program leadership, management, project planning, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and security management skills;
o Previous working experience in the chronic/forgotten crisis environment desirable;
Having Knowledge and Experience in the local context or being a former SRDA employee is an added advantage
